Sport & Recreation

The joy of living as a family in a village satisfies the soul. The satisfaction of achievement through participation in the work of Logwood is good for the mind. But to keep bodies healthy and fit Logwood Village provides a busy slate of recreational activities. Often these are spontaneously organised by the residents with an enthusiasm that defies description. There are really no losers. For everyone who participates in Logwood is a winner. swimming1.jpg

Armed with nothing but their determination and a commitment to be the best they can be, Logwood’s residents are intrepid participants in many sporting activities that include ten-pin bowling, ice skating and floor hockey. Also, over the years Logwood Village residents have completed both the 94.7 and Cape Argus Cycle races, the comrades marathon and other road running events.

Consistent with the commitment to give residents a sense of pride and achievement, Logwood residents also participate in other organised activities such as ten-pin bowling, ice skating, horse-riding and, arts and crafts.

And just to ensure that the community stays abreast of what Logwood Village has to offer, annual fundraising events attract a wide variety of people to its doors.

  • The Anniversary Golf Day takes place in March and is a great day out for business people and corporate companies.
  • The Country Festival is the organisation's brand building event & a fun day for the whole family.
  • The Charity Race Day is a great corporate horse racing event that takes place in either August or September.
  • The Village participates in Casual Day, every first Friday of September, and is a beneficiary of this national initiative.
  • Annual cycling events include “The Logwood Classic” mountain bike race that has received provincial status and is run by the Johannesburg Mountain Bike Club in July.
