Infectious. Enthusiastic and all-embracing. That’s the people of Logwood Village near Johannesburg. Here, in spacious grounds, 85 people from varying backgrounds, joyfully, if sometimes a little loudly, welcome you into their midst. Why not? After all, that’s their outlook on life: enjoy the wonder of creation and be happy. And fill the world with love.
	That they are intellectually disabled should, well, be hardly worth noting. But of course we must, since we are sharing with you, our reader and supporter, just a little about our home. As you’ve guessed, it’s called Logwood Village. It is here that the residents live in 12 self-contained cottages.
They care for one another a lot. And they care for those who look after them too, because they do it with the dignity and love that those who established and manage Logwood show them. They care this way so that residents reach their full potential.
Amongst other things Logwood Village offers the following residential and work opportunities for people with an intellectual disability which include: Permanent residence for adults; Respite care for short-term placements; and Contract work in a protective workshop, laundry & domestic service, clerical work, deliveries, learning computer skills, etc.
