SPORTS & ACTIVITIES
At Logwood Village our residents have access to a wide variety of sports and activities, which provide them with the opportunity to develop, learn, keep fit and healthy, socialise, and have lots of fun.
Over the years, amongst other sports, our residents have made regular appearances at the 94.7 and Cape Argus Cycle races and have represented Logwood Village on a national and international level of the Special Olympics competition.
To meet a very real need amongst homes for Intellectually Disabled people in the more disadvantaged communities, we initiated a sports outreach programme offering persons with Intellectual Disability, who do not have sporting facilities, the opportunity to take part in sports on our premises. A Gauteng Floor Hockey league, a game that was developed by Special Olympics for persons with intellectual disability based on Ice Hockey, was started and is still in existence. We now have 29 teams participating in this league.
